We’ve taken steps over the past few years to support local artists/shops, yet at the same time had to acknowledge that we’re clearly in a position to pay that little bit extra for entering a shop with the item we want that allows us to have the item ‘in my hands, the minute I’ve finished paying for the goods’.

The same book on offer for full price in a local, non-chain, bookshop for £20.... the Top 3 supermarkets offering it for 50% @ £10 along with your food shopping... or The-Place-You-Are-Refering-To saying ‘On your doorstep for £7.99 on day of release”. Choices.

When doing IT support I tell friends and family - pay more and make progress on fixing it today as we’ll have the part / software to get on with things, possibly have to wrangle with an non-standard order through a local shop if they are willing to deal with the hassle, or buy from an online shop to get the part with a small/medium saving but a delay in getting the part.

Doesn’t help when my own work offers a Reward Gateway that can include in shop reductions as well as online reductions. The online reductions are usually better than the in-shop offers.

I realize that during the next lockdown I'll be learning to stumble and laugh thru a read of French... I can already sing *it with a understandable accent (so voice jury's have said)... perhaps improvizing a melody with that open letter would purport more meaning.

It would be terribly ironic if the French govt chose to build their small shop sales platform on AWS 🤣
