Push that boundary! And that’s “… cock.sucking.Will.I.Am!”

Definitely getting to the 'old git' stage.

That aside though, no argument, this is a pointless product.

"If you can bear to watch the whole launch video you may come to share my growing doubts about the concept and implementation of the system."

I see no requirement to venture that appallingly unnecessary distance in order to agree!

Ok, adaptive volume changes kind of make sense as a thing to do. Might weaken the song's dynamics - if it has any - but getting washed out by engine noise doesn't help either, so I'll give that a pass.

But adaptive TEMPO changes? Why on earth would anyone want their music to randomly speed up or slow down in the middle of a song? I have a few that do that at certain points, but it's a glitch and it sounds bad and I hate it.

I guess what I'm saying is that if the music you listened to can be improved by randomly screwing around with it, then maybe you need to find less crap music to listen to.

just a reliable MP3 player with actual push buttons for the car would be nice; when the radio signal is iffy/radio programming is crap...

Bought new car.

Filled USB stick with 400+ of my favourite tunes

Plugged stick into car's USB slot

Set media player to USB

Press Shuffle

Press Play

Never touched the system again

Job done and that was 3 years ago.

p.s. I must be an even older git as I've never even heard of Will.wtf.is.that.

Eh? Modern car stereos are simple. Mine works by just saying, "Alexa, play [insert track/album/artist of your choice]." No muss, no fuss.

I too was always in the car for work. Mostly in the '00s and '10s. But this only heighten my enjoyment of driving. As I got paid to sit in a car for 4 hours (3½ before the radars started popping up everywhere) driving to places like Grenoble whilst listening to music or an audiobook.

Not only that. they also paid for the car!

What's not to like?!

Our Audi Q3 (2017 model, leased, not bought. We’re not poor but we still don’t have that kind of spare cash around for a cash purchase) had an audio system that would - at the last volume you had set - start to play the Multi Media system whenever the car was started. Get in the car at dark O’Clock in the AM and it’s ready to Llocate your eardrums and give them a dollop of ACDC Hells Bells, or whatever No Repeat Guarantee rock tune is being broadcast by Planet Rock, or gawd help me Radio 2 if the other half has driven it the 1 mile to work and back at any point since I was last in the car.

No amount of setting searching, manual reading, helped. There was no ‘start at this volume, please’ option anywhere to be found nor a ‘I don’t need BBC radio to wake me up when I start my car, thanks’.

Even the more recent Q3 (2019) edition we’ve moved up to has an instruction manual for the touch display that doesn’t meet the screen / button layout despite the software never being updated since the car was manufactured.

At least it’s not auto starting when we turn on the car, at least we can be greatful for that.

I had to define a shortcut (in my car audio entertainment system) to directly launch Planet Rock radio via DAB because otherwise it’s one of these three options whilst static on the driveway, or 70 mph on the motorway:

Home icon, Radio icon, Configuration button, Select favourites then Planet Rock station…

Home button, Radio icon, Scroll down a massive list of stations, find the one in the alphabet you want…

Press car interaction button (on the steering wheel) to turn on last audio function, use directional arrows to move to radio, scroll to radio list, scroll up/down the list and select the station you want…

Adaptive seat heating changes may be a better idea.

As an old, retired, git, I only use my car for trips to the grocery store and my doctors. But back in the day I loved driving my non electronic FIAT124 Spyder at speed. My go to driving song was Golden Earing's Radar Love.

But the question for you is did you practice hand brake turns to wow the ladies, as supreme git Jeremy Clarkson used to insist they would on the original Top Gear?

Hmm one of my cars makes it really easy on that front.

No doors, roof, heater (it does have a heated windscreen but that is the only glass on the whole car), ABS, power steering, radio or any creature comforts. It does have 4 wheels, two seats and an engine which is all it needs, although long motorway journeys are not what I own it for, it is for twisty A and B roads. If you are curious see gilescooper.co.uk.

On the other hand the commuting car is a 11 year old BMW which usually has my phone in a cradle playing podcasts if I am driving to work. Figuring out the radio programming on that is interesting (no I still haven’t bothered after owning it for over 2 years…

You may never be forgiven for alluding to unused yogurt makers. Following a 'guffaw', I was forced to explain and now have to search the time-capsule that is our attic.
